Subject: Self-Reflection of the product review essay.

This is a self-reflection on the quality of my writing, strategies I used, and strategies I will use for my future writing based on feedback and advice I received upon reviewing my product review essay on the IKEA songesand 6-drawer dresser.

I formatted my essay well by structuring it with an introductory paragraph, three paragraphs each discussing one criteria, and a fourth paragraph as a conclusion. I also included many details under each criteria that I based my product review on. For example, in the paragraph discussing the criteria ‘assembly and installation’ it included very visual descriptions of the pieces and process of the products assembly and how it went about in the process. These details were included to give the reader proper visualization before understanding the rating I gave.

Another positive reflection on my writing is I begin each paragraph by defining each criteria and mentioning what will be discussed in the paragraph. This strategy is one I like to use in all my writing and will continue to use. It’s similar to a mini introduction for each paragraph and provides a clear understanding of what I’m discussing in my writing and helps organize the ideas and thoughts I hope to share.

Unfortunately, In my essay I had issues with the length of my introduction and conclusion. I was advised to lengthen my introduction and add more of my personal experience in the conclusion. For example, In my essay I introduced my thesis in one line without including any background information to start off my writing smoothly. Another example is that in my conclusion I had a few lines about the overall rating of the product and whether I would recommend the product or not but then I received feedback recommending me to include personal experience as to why I recommend the product. I will employ the strategy of including some background information in my introduction before introducing my essay topic and also include more personal concluding opinions (based on what was already mentioned in my essay) in my conclusions.

Based on the feed-back I received on my writing as well as my own personal reflections I have taken account to focus on paragraph lengths and work on improving my introductions and conclusions. This will be done by adding more background information for my thesis and personal reflection in my conclusion. It is necessary for writing to be well introduced to an audience and closed well.
